Week 4 Street FA Report

Updated: September 29th 2019

Each week we will recommend a group of players that are owned in less than 50% of RSO league that should be rostered. Depending on roster and league sizes not all of these players may be available. For that, we will offer 1 player that is owned in <10% of leagues as our Sleeper add.

Add of the Week

Taylor Gabriel, WR – CHI (Owned 44%)

Week 3: 6 Rec/75 yards, 3 TDs

Taylor Gabriel had himself a game on Monday night scoring three touchdowns in the first half! Unfortunately, he left the game early with a concussion that he is still dealing with at the mid-week point. It is unclear if he will be available for an encore against the Vikings this Sunday. Regardless, only Allen Robinson (27 targets), Tarik Cohen (19), and Gabriel (14) are being featured in the Bears’ offense through three weeks, with Gabriel being the only one with a touchdown reception thus far.  When he is back on the playing field he is at least rosterable in all but the shallowest of leagues and can be a flex option in deep starting lineups.

Suggested Bid: $2,000,000

QB Add

Gardner Minshew, QB – JAX (Owned 50%)

Week 3: 20 for 30, 204 Pass yards, 2 TDs, 4 Car/18 yards

Looking back at last year’s Week 3 Street Free Agent Report it was the chest protruding, big baller swagger of Ryan Fitzpatrick that was being recommended as a must-add quarterback. Fast forward to this year and history is repeating itself with the latest cult hero, rookie Gardner Minshew, who is the quarterback to own. After taking over for Nick Foles in Week 1, Minshew has looked at worst serviceable to fantasy owners that have been ravaged by early-season injuries. He is consistently putting up 17 points per game, good enough for 17th at his position. It will be interesting to see if the Jaguars return to Nick Foles when he becomes healthy again later in the season based on the success of Minshew as well as the fan base loving every minute he’s in the spotlight. With Reality Sports Online “resign” feature Minshew is also an interesting character to see where his future value hits after next week. Especially in Superflex leagues he could be a sneaky resign candidate for many teams who usually stream the position.

Suggested Bid: $2,000,000

RB Add

Jeff Wilson Jr, RB – SF (Owned 36%)

Week 3: 8 Car/18 yards, 2 TDs

I recommended Raheem Mostert two weeks ago as a 49er running back to add and I’m going back again for another, Jeff Wilson Jr. Wilson has four touchdowns in the last two games on only 18 carries putting him in a Mike Tolbert, Matt Asiata-like touchdown vulture role. We don’t yet know where Wilson will fit once Tevin Coleman returns after the team’s bye this week but he’s at least worth a stash for now. There are suggestions that he may be waived to try and put on the team’s practice squad but it is likely another team would sign him before he ever got there. This might actually be the best-case scenario for those who invest in Wilson as a team would likely have a role for him if they were to sign him. For now we can just monitor what his situation is and adjust our expectations accordingly.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

WR Add

Paul Richardson, WR – WAS (Owned 44%)

Week 3: 8 Rec/83 yards, 1 TD

“Scary” Terry McLaurin (F1) has been the darling of the fantasy community and is looking like the most valuable piece of this woeful Washington offense for 2019 and beyond. If the team struggles as much as it did on Monday night though, another name to watch is Paul Richardson. The sixth-year receiver has been an afterthought for most of his Washington career after being a deep sleeper candidate last year but the team is likely to be down in many more games this season so the passing offense will be featured plenty. The team has featured three (3) receivers on 56 percent of their plays through three weeks so regardless of whether it’s Richardson or Trey Quinn sharing the WR2 role both should continue to see their share of targets behind Terry McLaurin and scatback Chris Thompson.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

TE Add

Ben Watson, TE – NE (Owned 13%)

Week 3: N/A

Ben Watson is suspended for another week before he can make his Patriots return but that shouldn’t stop those with tight end problems from adding him this week. The Patriots have a long history of featuring their tight ends and Tom Brady also loves to feature players that he has a rapport with; Watson was with the Patriots from 2004-09. He will never replace Rob Gronkowski’s production both as a pass-catcher or a blocker but similar to Jason Witten with the Cowboys and Greg Olsen with the Panthers there is something about having a veteran tight end who knows how to read defenses and get open for their quarterback. Of course, neither of those teams have a Swiss army knife quite like Julian Edelman but we have seen both Edelman and a New England tight end be fantasy relevant at the same time. It is pure speculation at this point to assume any fantasy relevancy for Watson but he could be the next hot waiver add in week six if he has a big game upon returning. Get ahead of the curve now and stash him.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

Sleeper Add (<10%)

Auden Tate, WR – CIN (Owned 5%)

Week 3: 6 Rec/88 yards

A surprising change last week to the Bengals’ offense was Auden Tate being on the field for 89 percent of the plays in week 3 against the Buffalo. This came at the apparent benching of Damion Willis who was said to be the replacement outside receiver during A.J. Green’s absence coming out of preseason. The Bengals have run three-receiver sets on 68 percent (5th most) which is likely a contributor to his high usage rate which is also a good indicator of things moving forward in the season.  We don’t yet know when Green will be returning or how effective he will be when he does so Tate could continue to see an uptick in snaps played. We do know that Tate has the ability at 6’5” to be a better red zone and jump-ball threat than either Tyler Boyd (6’1”) or John Ross (5’11”). If he can continue to see the field at the rate he saw last week and the Bengals can get more scoring opportunities Tate may become a sleeper each week with touchdown upside.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

Week 5 Street FA Report

Updated: October 3rd 2018

Each week we will recommend a group of players that are owned in less than 50% of RSO league that should be rostered. Depending on roster and league sizes not all of these players may be available. For that, we will offer 1 player that is owned in <10% of leagues as our Sleeper add.

Byes: Chicago, Tampa Bay

Add of the Week

Taylor Gabriel, WR – CHI (Owned 24.5%)

Week 4: 7 Rec/ 104 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Car/10 yards

Gabriel was a player I featured two weeks ago but his ownership levels barely rose. After a 30 point PPR performance last week it is unlikely that he will remain this low. Unfortunately, he and the rest of the Bears are on the bye in week 5 after having a huge offensive showing in week 4 but maybe that will keep some from putting in a claim. Gabriel isn’t going to be getting many multi-touchdown games going forward but he has established himself as a clear target that Mitchell Trubisky is looking for in the passing game. If Anthony Miller misses any additional games coming out the bye that just means more targets for Gabriel going forward.

Suggested Bid: $3,000,000 – $5,000,000

RB Add

Mike Davis, RB – SEA (Owned 2.8%)

Week 4: 21 Car/101 yards, 2 TDs, 4 Rec/23 yards

Bill Belichick may get a lot of flak for being ruthless with his deployment of running backs in his offensive game plan but at least when he takes an RB in the first round (Sony Michel) he actually uses him. Pete Carroll took Rashaad Penny in the first but he and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer have sparingly used him, instead favoring Chris Carson and now Mike Davis more. After Davis’ 100-yard game last week Carroll has said that he will remain in the rotation even when Carson returns to the line-up. It is tough to see all of these runners being consistent contributors in a given week but with injuries being a real problem it’s worth a shot to see if Davis has some more decent games ahead of him.

Suggested Bid: $500,000 – $1,000,000

Wendell Smallwood, RB – PHI (Owned 31%)

Week 4: 5 Car/39 yards, 3 Rec/15 yards

Sproles and Clement were out this past week which allowed for Wendell Smallwood to operate as the second option behind Jay Ajayi. He didn’t have a huge stat line but he provided enough that if Ajayi’s own injury flares up mid-game he could be a deep play in some leagues hurting for RBs. At a minimum, if Sproles and/or Clement are held out for games moving forward Smallwood should have some PPR value based on how he was used against the Titans last week. He had more targets than Ajayi in the receiving game despite being on the field for significantly fewer plays.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

WR Add

Keke Coutee, WR – HOU (Owned 48.5%)

Week 4: 11 Rec/109 yards, 2 Car/-2 yards

Keke Coutee was a frequent third-round selection in rookie drafts this offseason but had been invisible due to injury for the first three weeks. He had quite the first showing though as he tied for the most targets in week 4 with fifteen, catching eleven! At 5’10” Coutee is the prototypical slot receiver that will gobble up the underneath targets. With Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins garnering all the attention of defenses deep and on the outside, Coutee will continue to find open areas underneath the coverage and should have a stable target share each week. Maybe not fifteen targets stable but enough that in leagues that start 4+ WR/Flex he might become a starting staple in a week or two. If he wasn’t draft in your league now is the time to grab him and see how he develops. As for trading, while buying after a big week is always a tough thing to do it may be advantageous to get in before he has another couple of solid games and becomes too expensive.

 Suggested Bid: $3,000,000 – $6,000,000 or a 2nd round

TE Add

Geoff Swaim, TE – DAL (Owned 7%)

Week 4: 3 Rec/39 yards, 1 TD

Dallas’ offense is brutal this season outside of Zeke Elliot. Still, like my take on Deonte Thompson last week someone has to catch the ball outside of Cole Beasley. Geoff Swaim has been the second most targeted Dallas receiver (16) through the first month. He also has five times more targets than the rest of the TEs combined so he doesn’t have much coming up behind him to steal targets. Swaim is no Jason Witten and this offense is not going to score as they did two years ago but in a league where week-to-week production at the TE position is limited to a handful of players, it doesn’t hurt to have a team’s clear number one. Especially for teams that had Eifert/Walker lost for the season, you could do worse than Swaim.

Suggested Bid: $500,000 – $1,000,000

Sleeper Add (<10%)

Chester Rogers, WR – IND (Owned 4.6%)

Week 4: 8 Rec/85 yards

Chester Rogers is a name that many have likely cursed as a player that has stolen relevant points from other Colts receivers in past seasons but he could have standalone value, at least for a couple of weeks with T.Y. Hilton injured. At least with having to play on the short week on Thursday Rogers will be the number two receiver for one game which means if you’re in a jam he could be a Hail Mary option for week 5 and any future weeks that T.Y. is inactive. The Colts are a pass first, second, and third down team so there should be plenty of looks from Andrew Luck, especially if they find themselves trailing like they have through much of this season.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

Week 3 Street FA Report

Updated: September 19th 2018

Each week we will recommend a group of players that are owned in less than 50% of RSO league that should be rostered. Depending on roster and league sizes not all of these players may be available. For that, we will offer 1 player that is owned in <10% of leagues as our Sleeper add.

Add of the Week

Tyler Boyd, WR – CIN (Owned 24.8%)

Week 2: 6 Rec/91 yards, 1 TD

Remember when the standard was to give a receiver three years before expecting him to be fantasy relevant? Maybe we should all go back to that philosophy. While A.J. Green stole the spotlight with three touchdowns on Thursday night, Tyler Boyd had a solid 21.1 PPR fantasy point night himself. The Bengals are looking like one of those teams that will have weekly value at each position in fantasy this season and Boyd might be the biggest value of them all. He will never face double-team coverage with Green lining up opposite to him and with his ability to assimilate most of the underneath targets he should have a solid week-to-week PPR floor. Consider Boyd a WR3/4 most weeks with his upside being what he did last Thursday.

Suggested Bid: $4,000,000 – $6,000,000

QB Add

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB – TB (Owned 38.3%)

Week 2: 27 for 33, 402 Passing yards, 4 TDs

It was hilarious to see Ryan Fitzpatrick be fantasy relevant for week one but now after a second elite level performance, there is no joking around. There should be no way that Jameis Winston returns as the starter when he is eligible to play again in week four so long as Fitzpatrick is playing the way he is right now. With all the weapons around him, Fitzpatrick is utilizing each of their skill sets in a way that a solid veteran QB should be. This is something the Bucs need right now and unless you are starting one of the elite fantasy QBs you need to be considering some Fitzmagic for your lineup moving forward.

Suggested Bid: $2,000,000 – $5,000,000 ($5,000,000 – $10,000,000 Superflex)

RB Add

Javorius “Buck” Allen, RB – BAL (Owned 47.1%)

Week 2: 6 Car/8 yards, 1 TD, 5 Rec/36 yards

Baltimore wins big and Javorius “Buck” Allen is fantasy relevant. Baltimore loses and Allen is fantasy relevant. It appears that the Ravens are comfortable with having a split backfield with Alex Collins getting the early down role and Allen receiving numerous targets in the passing game. Surprisingly though, both of Allen’s touchdowns have come on goal-line carries which means that he will have opportunities around the end zone and not just on the way there. The Ravens are likely to be a .500 team again this season which means plenty of games where Allen will be used as a safety blanket option for Joe Flacco in tight games.

Suggested Bid: $500,000 – $1,500,000

WR Adds

Willie Snead, WR – BAL (Owned 39.3%)

Week 2: 5 Rec/54 yards

Speaking of Joe Flacco safety blankets everyone’s favorite let down, Willie Snead has quietly earned 12.6 fantasy points per game over the first two weeks. Many thought of Snead as a forgotten man in Baltimore after he failed to live up to expectation with New Orleans last season. But remember that the Ravens liked him enough to give an RFA offer so the coaching staff must have liked something they saw. Right now he is playing the slot role inside of John Brown and Michael Crabtree which should help with his scoring floor on a week-to-week basis.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

Taylor Gabriel, WR – CHI (Owned 18.6%)

Week 2: 4 Rec/30 yards, 3 Car/17 yards

The Bears offense has not lived up to the hype of being the next L.A. Rams but that was a tough bar to expect and they have been good, but not great to this point. In their first two games, the Bears have looked like a team that will win because of its defense but that doesn’t mean they won’t have some fantasy-relevant value plays on offense. Taylor Gabriel is an underrated player that, while not likely to be scoring many touchdowns, does have the attention of Mitchell Trubisky. He is also an athletic talent that head coach Matt Nagy wants to move around the field and use in various ways, as evident by his three carries on Monday night. For shallow leagues, he might not be of much value but for leagues with several starters, there are more risky players to have for bye weeks coming up than Gabriel.

Suggested Bid: $500,000

TE Add

Jesse James, TE – PIT (Owned 32.6%)

Week 2: 5 Rec/138 yards, 1 TD

The Steelers are an absolute mess right now. Le’Veon Bell is holding out and now Antonio Brown is skipping out on practice days. Fortunately for the rest of the Steelers players, they are presenting great value for fantasy purposes because of it. One such player is Jesse James who had an okay week one followed up by a monster week two. Vance McDonald is clearly not going to be the player that people thought he might be in this offense so it is back to old reliable James for some low-end TE1 production. Ben Roethlisberger has always loved throwing to his tight ends so James should have a steady amount of targets, especially if they continue to struggle in games.

Suggested Bid: $1,000,000 – $3,000,000

Sleeper Add (<10%)

Jarius Wright, WR – CAR (1.3%)

Week 2: 5 Rec/62 yards, 1 TD

Cam Newton needs new targets to fill in for Greg Olsen while he is out with a foot injury. Jarius Wright had a surprising seven targets against Atlanta and was able to convert one those into a touchdown. Wright is never going to lead the Panthers in targets but the team does need more than just Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funchess if they are going to win games. For leagues scrapping the bottom of the barrel for players Wright could be a long shot to add in the hopes that some weeks he has a stat line like last week.

Suggesed Bid: $500,000
