RSO Staff Picks: Week 16

Updated: December 22nd 2019

Week 14 & 15 Results & Overall Standings

1. English – Week 14 13-3 & Week 15 11-5  // Overall 149-74-1

2. Papson – Week 14 9-7 & Week 15 10-6  //Overall 142-81-1

3. Wendell – Week 14 10-6 & Week 15 12-4 // Overall 141-82-1

Happy holidays and welcome to Week 16, the championship week for most of you in your RSO leagues. If you have made it this far, congrats as it is an impressive feat, and best of luck in your pursuit of fantasy immortality today. The NFL playoff picture will look pretty clear save a spot (or possibly two) at the end of the day, and if yesterday was any indication, we should have a great slate of games today. All three games had playoff implications yesterday and were decided by a touchdown or less. The Texans edged out the Bucs due to four INTs by Jameis, the Pats did what the Pats do and beat the Bills at home to clinch their 11th straight AFC East title, and then Jimmy G put last year’s NFC Champs out of the playoffs this year, showing once again how much parity exists in the NFL. Kyle, Matt and I were all 3-0 yesterday (along with most of America as the three “better” teams won), but like the NFL’s playoff picture, this contest will likely be complete by the end of this week, as Kyle has a seven game lead over Matt and an eight game lead over me, due to his 24-8 record over the last couple of weeks. The real test will be if Kyle can take down ESPN’s leading expert at the moment, Trey Wingo. Our picks for this week are below. We hope everyone enjoys the games and has a happy and healthy holiday week!

RSO Staff Picks: Week 4

Updated: September 29th 2019

Week 3 Results & Overall Standings

1.  English – 10-6-0 // 31-16-1

2. Papson – 12-4-0 //30-17-1

3. Wendell – 9-7-0 // 28-19-1

Excellent week by Pappy to pull within one game of English through three weeks. Wendell, per usual, brings up the rear but is only three games behind and was the only person to pick his beloved Eagles on the road to beat the Packers on Thursday (so he starts Sunday one game up on the week). Lots of interesting Week 4 matchups where we will see how good some of these lesser thought of teams are after their respective hot starts (3-0 Bills host the 3-0 Patriots for control of the AFC East at the quarter poll; the 2-0-1 Lions host the seemingly unbeatable Chiefs; AND Teddy Bridgewater gets a chance to show the world on SNF that last week was not a fluke and he can be the “bridge” the Saints need while Brees is out). Our picks for the week are below. Good luck in all your matchups!

RSO Staff Picks: Week 2

Updated: September 12th 2019

Week 1 Results & Overall Standings

1. Papson 11-4-1

2. English – 11-4-1

3. Wendell – 10-5-1

In what is traditionally a tough week to pick games, we all three did pretty well, with Matt and Kyle going 11-4-1, edging me out by one game at 10-5-1. As for week 1, it had tons of drama, a tie and fantasy points (and real points) galore! The surprise of the week has to go to the Titans going into Cleveland and blowing the (over)hyped Browns out by 30 points. Second place goes to the Raiders surviving the Antonio Brown shenanigans and finding a way to win the nightcap of MNF by beating the Broncos 24-16. Week 2 will surely not disappoint either. Here are our picks for this week below. Enjoy the games and best of luck in all your fantasy matchups.

RSO Staff Picks: Week 1

Updated: September 5th 2019

And just like that, the summer is in the rear view mirror and the 100th NFL regular season begins tonight in the Windy City of Chicago with a classic Packers-Bears matchup. After an injury plagued 2018, Aaron Rodgers will look to make a statement tonight proving all his doubters wrong. On the other side, third year QB Mitchell Trubisky will look to take another step forward as the defending NFC North Champions look to make a deeper playoff run in 2019. It all gets going at 8:20 EST on NBC tonight, and we are pumped for the start of the NFL and RSO!

As we have in prior years, Matt, Kyle and I will pick each game every week of the season (the rest of the writers will join us for the playoffs). Kyle edged out Matt in the final week of the season last year for the year long crown and bragging rights. Week 1 is always a bit of a crap shot, so here are our picks for opening week below. Enjoy the games!

RSO Staff Picks: Week 17

Updated: December 28th 2018

Week 16 Results

1. Wendell – 12-4

2. Papson – 11-5

3. English – 10-6

Overall Standings

1.  English – 150-89-2

2. Papson – 148-91-2

3. Wendell 140-99-2

I can take some solace in winning a week but at a full ten games behind Kyle and eight games behind Matt, I will be officially riding the caboose for the season. Kyle lost a game to Matt and so only two games separate them heading into our final week of the season where there will be a handful of super meaningful games, including a win and in game between the Titans and Colts to finish out the regular season on Sunday night. Our picks for the final week of the year are below. Enjoy the games!

RSO Staff Picks: Week 16

Updated: December 22nd 2018

Week 15 Results

1. English – 10-6

2. Papson – 8-8

3. Wendell – 7-9

Overall Standings

1.  English – 140-83-2

2. Papson – 137-86-2

3. Wendell 128-95-2

Kyle takes a commanding lead with two weeks to go by going 10-6. Matt was too focused on keeping his perfect season going in the RSO Writers League. Kyle just needs a normal last two weeks here to maintain the crown. Papson could overcome and I am so far out of it now it is not even funny. No Thursday football this week but two playoff implication games for all four teams involved tomorrow as the Redskins travel to Nashville to take on the Titans and the Ravens go to LA to take on the red hot Chargers, who need to keep winning to try to win the AFC West and get a first-round bye in the playoffs. Our picks for those games and the rest of the slate on Sunday are below. Good luck to everyone playing for an RSO championship this weekend!
